Broccoli? Yucks.

Have been feeding missyhan solids regularly for the past week. So far she tried avocado and japanese pumpkins. So far so good and she enjoyed the avocado tremendously tho they taste abit tart. The pumpkins were so sweet, but she didnt seem to like it as much. It gave her a slight rash around her chin as well.
Started out on broccoli today and hoped for the best. Will she like it? Experts say that most babies hate broccoli. Seriously, it smells so yucky to me and If Im a baby, I'd hate it too.

Argghhh.. toxic slush!

Nope. She hates it definitely.

Aralyn and Anderson. Zining and Ziqian.

Finally, Zining met Ziqian didi. Ziqian looks so tired in the picture, must have been the shopping that wore him out. Gave mummy Carol the Leapfrog system and chatted for awhile b4 we parted ways. It was nice to see her again after so many mths. Hehe.
Baby fair at Taka isnt that fantastic. Not much of a bargain infact. However, that didnt stopped daddyhan from spending. He was checking out this huge Leapfrog frog when I went away to take a basket. When I was back, he asked if we shld get one. I said No, for we had gotten a Leapfrog Spinball the day before. He argues that, the frog is cuter, can sing and its educational, and dropped it into the basket. Turns out he had already choose n picked one that isnt dirty from inside the pile. Sneaky old man.
Bought some more teethers from Sassy and some soft books with puppets. Didnt get the lightweight stroller as planned. Too expensive. No playpen for the office either, not much selections to choose.
Popped by Ikea and got the high chair, and thus ended the day. Buying things for her never fail to brighten my day. =D

Random thoughts

I've always read so much abt mummies complaining abt their baby not being able to sleep at nite. Methods like ignoring them, letting them cry it out or the Put up/ Put down methods were all widely discussed and used in forums. Book authors like tracy hogg or gina ford must have made millions for their methods and advices, for I see their name being mentioned to death. Sometimes I wonder, is it really so difficult to put a baby to sleep? I understand that a newborn still needs the time to settle and adjust to their bio clock, but for a baby coming to half a year of age, is it really that bad? If the child cries out for the warmth of your body, the love from your touch, do you wanna ignore it just because you want them to settle into your schedule?
Are we being too demanding on the baby? I cant help but wonder.
I started out doing what most ppl do- leave the baby in her cot and let her cry to sleep. However, she simply refuses to, and it put an emotional strain on me rather than her! I never fail to yield to her cries and pick her up. Now she can manage a 2hr power nap easily, after I dicovered that she likes to sleep on our bed in the afternoon. Maybe its the smell of us, her parents, which lingers on the sheets. That reinforced my point that, we shldnt be so hard on the baby and ignore their cries, when its obvious that we are to them, their everything.
Then again, dun be too quick to shoot me! Im juz stating my point of view as a sahm. Hehe. I know working lives drains whatever energies thats left of a mum, but hey, your child is only gg to be a baby once.

Angelic moments like this isnt forever, soon they'll be sleeping with horns, tail and a pitchfork. Im just gonna savour all this precious moments while I can.

5 Months Old

Gosh, time FLIES! They really do, seeing how big my lil munchkin has grown! It seems just like yesterday, that all she does is cry. Now she can coo, scream and flip! Like what I always tell her, "Big girl oreadi!"

She had her last 5-in-1 and prevenar vaccines yesterday. This bun is so smart and cried out loud when the pd rub some alcohol on her thigh prior injection. Pd laughed and commented she's got a good memory, for she knows after the alcohol comes the pain. Baby, you're so smart, really takes after me! Hahaha.
She weighs 7.32kg and is 65cm long at 5mths, both height and weight in the 75 percentile.

As usual, came down with a fever and had to be patched, and just like the last time, she was totally active and jolly. Is that the side effects of the vaccines, that gave her this high?

Fed her cereal and we caught the simpsons on dvd. She was so excited and wiggled and blabbered nonstop, and even splattered the cereal everywhere with her 'ah-shoosh'. How can a sick baby have so much energy? No more simpsons next time, shall stick to baby einstein instead.

Look at her shouting in the jumperoo, not one bit like a sick baby. Everytimes she gets vaccinated, she gets so active and happy. Heh.
Anyway, Happy 5mth old Ningning!!

The Flipper

To think we were still wondering why have she stopped turning over after the last. Was there something wrong with her motor skills? Why isnt she turning over anymore?
However, she put our hearts at ease by turning over again last nite. No one saw it but the cats. I wonder if this is the actual milestone for she have been flipping non stop eversince, much to my annoyance! Now I fully understand what other mummies meant when they say its irritating to have the little tyke turn so much for they cant unturn themself. Looks like I have to bear with it for now, and meanwhile, go and flip her over for the umpteen times, for she just turned again and is whining and kicking away for not being able to turn back.
Life just gets better. =D

Jie Jie gimme more hair

Look who came and see Aralyn today?
Sean boiboi!
He looks kinda grouchy tho, and his attention was only on mummy. Poor lyn, no attention from sean at all, even when she's in her cute little pink onesie and boy-killer hairdo. :(
Both babies got pair up reluctantly for a parting shot.

Aralyn and the pets

One of the many reasons that Aralyn isnt sleeping with us since birth was becoz of my cats(We have 2 very very furry cats which we have since shaved their fur short twice, and a dog). We were afraid that she might be allergic to pets' dander since she is so tiny, so the best bet would be to let her sleep on her own, where pets are prohibited from entering. We even bought 2 huge air purifier from Austin to make hers and our breathing space better, for our cats really shed alot!
Thank god she isnt allergic to pets.
Another reason that she wont be sharing our bed is, my cats been sleeping on the bed with us for the longest time, and they have their own fav spots on the bed. If I were to let Aralyn sleep in with us at night, Im afraid the cats might accidentally trample her. Worse would be us suffocating her with our pillows. And I think it isnt very fair to chase the cats out of the rooms coz they were abit cranky after her arrival. Pet owners will know what I mean. Lastly, its good to settle her down in her own room earlier, so we get added privacy when she grows up. Hehe, if you get my drift. *wriggle eyebrows lecherously*
Anyway, Im really glad that the loves of my life can co-exsist happily.

Aralyn blabbering to a very stoned looking brownie.

Chilling out happily on Monday morning with brownie again.

Baby and me

Dinner with the inlaws at Hilltop on 初三(CNY 3rd day). She was jolly in her dolly clothes as usual, and she does looks pretty funny with a hairband on. It just makes her hair stand up even more! During CNY visitng, someone commented that she look like those dolls, whereby you water the head and weeds will grow from it. Does see some resemblances there. Heh heh heh.
I noticed I look very haggard now. Has it go to do with motherhood or is it becoz its jus the lack of make up?

4 Months old!

Happy 4th Mth Sweetie pie!
The many joys you bring to everyone around you, and the infectious laughters you shared. YOU ARE SO CUTE AND WE LOVE YOU SO! (but mummy loves you more than anyone else. heehe)

See how sad she looks? We were on the way to the pd clinic when this was taken. She seems to know whats going to happen to her later. Poor baby. 2 jabs and an oral vaccine again. Come one more month, it will all be over! Yay! She weighs 6.87kg n is 63cm long.

No fever this time round, coz I fed her paracetamol syrup after her milk. So far so good. So good to the extend that she demands to be in the jumperoo today! Had to pull her out so many times coz its reccommended not to let baby stay in it for too long at a stretch, and when that happens, she'll goes eh eh eh eh and starts thrashing her arms and looking in the direction of the jumperoo. Once she is in, she'll goes hae hae hae and starts jumping madly. Really wonder what vaccine she got today to make her so active and happy. I ve never seen her laugh so much and jumped so wildly like today. Quite hilarious to watch actually.

ps: Im at 51.1kg now, and still 3-4kg more to pre preg weight. Sigh. Its getting harder, especially when I seems to be getting hungry all the time.
