1st day without daddyhan

Daddyhan left for greece yesterday night.
Started the day feeling weird. Maybe its the excitement that its my 1st time alone with ning. Maybe its the fear and worries that I might not be able to handle. Maybe its the heart thats already beginning to long for him. I guess its a mixture of all.
Agreed to have dinner with the in laws. Daddyhan was shocked at my decision, coz I NEVER had dinner with the in laws without him before. They arranged to pick me and the bub up at 645pm, which kinda coincides with her dinner, so to solve the prob, I decided to bring forward her dinner.
After her milk at around 4pm, I went to check on her porridge which is cooked from pork broth thats been boiled and simmered for the entire afternoon. I added spinach, sweet potatoes & carrots. The end result was something Im very proud of.
At 5ish, I decided to feed her the porridge, so that I can bathe her in time to leave the hse at 645pm.
Bad mistake.
I shld have seen the signs! She took a mouthful and gave me the look of distaste. I tot its becoz thats her 1st time tasting pork broth, so I ignore her looks and spooned her another mouthful. She opened her mouth as usual, so taking the cue from her, I feed her again even when she made that gagging sound.
And she puked. Merlion is a better word, for her puke came out projectile style, exactly like the merlion. 3 streams of milk+porridge flew out of her and landed all over the place. Somehow I managed to stay calm and cleaned her up, and I was rewarded with funny faces from her & her sunshine smile. Knowing that she was being overfed instead of being sick somehow put me at ease. I really miss daddyhan at that point of time, for he will always clean up such yucky situations for me.
After dinner, I washed up the mess she made, played with her, let her pull my hair, let her destroy n tear my latest issue of Motherhood mag, put her to bed, washed her bottles, sterilised them, hung out the laundries and did the dishes.
Felt so accomplished in a way that Im holding up the fort well thus far. =)
Waiting for daddy to call in an hrs time or so. Miss him so!

Ning is going to school!

Yep!
Its official! We've signed up with Trio today.
Thanks to eunice for sharing the promo price, which is too good to missed. I have not attended their trial classes myself, but it seems like they are pretty well received.
Took up weekday morning classes and lessons will start in July. Jessie and baby jerry will be joining us in the same class!

Missyhan's Passport Picture

Heh! Got an email from immigrations to inform that the application of ning's passport is approved! Was worried that her picture might not go thru, coz one of her ear could not be seen. Was supposed to pick up the passport today, but daddyhan urged me to make a new one for myself too, since mine is expiring next year. So now Im waiting for my passport to be approved, and mummy & daughter will pick up their new passports together! Cant wait for our 1st family holiday aboard the Superstar Aquarius in end Aug! Yippeee!

And she fell..

I was juz commenting abt it.. and today she fell.
It was only a 20cm drop to the carpeted floor, but it was enough to make her cry her lungs out. I tot she was already going to sleep, so I left her in the usual corner of our bed, with all the pillows and bolsters surrounding her. I think her new found skill proves to be too good for all this barriers, and she climbed over one of the bolster and fell off.
Good thing we dismantled the bed frame and placed the mattress on the floor instead. I really cannot imagine what will happen if she falls from a higher height. Im pretty shaken as it is, and I do not even wanna think too much abt the 'what ifs'.
Held her so tight juz now to comfort her. Called daddyhan and almost broke down. Brave girl stopped crying almost immediately when I cuddled her. Showered her with lotsa kisses and nursed her till she dozed off.
Looks like we're going shopping for a playpen tonight.

Ning & ice lolly

I used to be pretty anal with what I give her.
1st, I insisted on feeding her organics. Then I realised that its not such a big deal if I dun. So I stopped.
Then I insisted on purees & cereals, no salt no sugar no blah blah blah.
Now, Im starting to give her junks! All the rules n whatever principles juz flew out of the window when she took her 1st lick of ice kachang w/o the syrup(maybe alittle). Next no-no food was crystal jade's dessert of chysanthemum & apple jelly, which she actually ate quite a bit.
Now, its this!







She was hesitant to lick it when I offered it to her. After the initial lick, theres no stopping her! She crawled towards me when I moved away, climbed all over me and kept pulling at the hand thats holding the treat when I refused to feed her. Thats how much she enjoyed it! I really ought to stop giving her junks, but her face juz lit up whenever she eats something she isnt supposed to.
Its just too irresistable to stop.

Ning is a Mighty Saver Kid!

Finally got down to opening a bank acct for her! She is now a proud OCBC Mighty Saver Kid! Got a free coin bank for signing up with the bank!

Milestone - She can crawl.

It all started last week when daddyhan taught her how to coordinate her hands n legs to move forward. The next day, she was wriggling her way around on the bed. I am really amazed at how fast babies can learn and this week, she started crawling on her knees!!!!
Still pretty wobbly on her knees, but yep, she is moving forward fast now! So happy to see her reach another milestone, yet stressed at the same time that I can no longer leave her on the bed alone. Its getting really tricky to do my things. She is so attached to me that she cries when Im out of sight even for a second. Guess I better start looking for options to confine her shld I needa do my chores before she gets herself in some nasty situations.

Recipe!

Since I have a few mummies asking abt the Mexican Lunch, I shall share this idiot proof recipe.

Ingredients;
30-40 grams of Weight Watchers' Mince Beef(lean beef)
what I did was, buy 100gram and I divide into 3 portions.
Half a carrot
3/4 of half an avocado

You can adjust portions accordingly.

• Peel, cut and steam carrots for 10-15mins. Then mash it with a fork and leave it aside.
• Scoop avocado out and mash it too. Set aside.
• Take beef and add equal amount of water or more to loosen, mix and stir it so that when its cook, it will be finer and not be that clumpy. (my warped theory but it works) You will get a watery bloody looking meat paste.
• Put beef in a small pot and fry it (w/o oil!). Keep stirring and the meat will break up into even smaller bits when cooked. Beef cooks quickly, so once they are brown, its cooked. You may wish to cook it longer if you want it drier, but i think abit of beef broth is better for baby.
• Mix cooked beef and carrots together, mashing them further with a fork.
• Serve beef & carrot mixture in a bowl with a dollop of mashed avocado at the side.

Looks so yummilicious isnt it? I tried it myself and it tastes really good even without the salt n seasonings we are so used to.
However, she wasnt so appreciative of my efforts n decided to spit them out. Had no choice but to puree it. Guess she isnt ready for textures.

I'd never have gotten it if I didnt make a remark abt it in the morning. I was telling him why I didnt get flowers and breakfast in bed. Nonetheless, it was still sweet of him to get me those flowers though I honestly think they look very ugly, with the bad selection of colors. They are now sitting in the living room in a milk jar. Yes, a milk jar used in an english tea setting. >.< No vase la.



My darling posing with the flowers. She is supposed to look up and smile, as if she is presenting the flowers to me. However, the flowers, wrapper & ribbons proved to be more enticing than mummy, and I was ignored.
She later gave me a mother's day pressie when I was done wiping down her butt, by giving a last push n splattered little poo nuggets on me. Sweet.

7 Months Old!

Happy 7mth old Sweetpea!
You've gotten very talkative, and kept screaming at your toys at the top of your lungs, which made it seems like some child abuse is going on in our unit. You've also became much more fiesty and seems to know how to argue back with me.
Your little chubby arms never fail to open wide in my direction, wanting me to carry carry, when I just scolded you for pinching me till it bruises. However, when I continue to ignore you, your little button nose turn red and you'll start to cry. No one but me, can pacify you. It just shows how much I mean to you.
You meant the world to me too.
Happy 7mth old. =)

Gymboree!

Ning attended Gymboree with her little buddies today. Made more new frds and she wasnt cranky during the lesson and behaved herself! I can tell from her face, she was really enjoying it! She was so tired by the end of the lesson that she fell and remained asleep even when I handled her roughly.
